Weather Resistant Speaker Tuned for
Outdoor Use
Cabinetry
The Capri cabinet is molded from
polypropylene and is resistant to precipitation, heat, cold, UV
rays and salt spray. It can be painted.
Bass Unit
Our custom built 5¼" bass unit
features a plastic cone and butyl rubber surround. The basket
is powder coated to resist rust. Stainless steel screws affix
the gasketed bass unit to the cabinet.
Tweeter
The 1" aluminum dome tweeter has
extremely broad dispersion, spreading sound across a large area
for full outdoor coverage. All tweeter components are
weather-resistant.
Port
We port the Capri to achieve maximum bass
response. In cases when the Capri is exposed to direct
precipitation, the port can be plugged to create a
completely sealed enclosure. A bug screen
is installed inside the port to prevent nesting.
Three Mounting Choices
We include an aluminum C-clamp bracket for
horizontal or vertical mounting. Picture hook inserts on the
back of the cabinet allow flush mounting against the wall.

Tuning Outdoors for Boundary Compensation
Speakers tuned for indoor use rely on the
walls, floors and ceilings to increase bass response. But if a
speaker is tuned indoors, then moved outside, the lack of walls
creates a distinct fall-off in bass. There is no practical way
to build a speaker that sounds as good outside as it does in.
We designed the Capri specifically for outdoor placement, so it
will sound natural when you’re by the pool or in the
garden.
Capri speakers available in black or white
We designed the Capri outside and tested
it in a variety of outdoor configurations. Faithfully
reproducing music outdoors presents several acoustic challenges
— most notably the difficulty in maintaining a satisfying
bass level. We use a high power-handling bass unit and
sophisticated crossover network to provide plenty of bass, even
as far away as 40' from the speaker.
